Last night I received the Nokia N70 two megapixel camera phone. I'm part of Nokia's "blogger relations program" where I get a phone, some software and accessories for free, as well as a little free airtime (not unlimited) to test several Nokia phones.
I'm first testing the candybar-shaped N70 and will get the larger, more camcorder-looking N90 flip/swivel two megapixel camera phone in a couple of weeks, I think. All the phones and other hardware are shipped back to Nokia when the testing is over.
I haven't had too much of a chance to play around with the N70, but the East Coast is expecting a snowstorm tonight and tomorrow so I hope to take some photos and videos.
The few photos and videos I took indoors looked rather good but I didn't post them.
The phone is sleek and sturdy, although as with so many feature-rich phones with relatively large screens the keyboard is relatively small so the phone feels a bit "top heavy."
The N70 has two cameras -- a VGA for "self portraits" and video calls that is on the front of the handset and "always on," so to speak and the two megapixel with the lens and flash on the back. The two megapixel camera turns on when the "slider" is pushed down.
There's good and bad news about the slider. The good news is it protects the lens and flash, and I like that a lot. I've written several times in my camera phone weblog that lenses should be protected from dirt and scratches.
The bad news is the slider takes time to push down so you might miss a shot. Overall, I want the lens protected and will accept the few seconds required to use the slider.
[Much, much more to come...]
I'm interested in such offer,The sound quality in these podcasts is really poor. I feel bad about complaining about something that is free, but I think it is important.
