At Tyson's - Virginia

This image took more than a day to show up! I was at the Tyson's Galeria shopping mall in Thursday night and sent this image of the ceiling. It showed up a few minutes ago, Saturday morning.

I'm using T-Mobile's prepaid service to test this Nokia 7610. T-Mobile seems to have the best service for getting up and running quickly on an unlocked GSM MMS phone and the MMS pricing is better than AT&T Wireless or Cingular.

Usually the photos arrive within minutes, but this time it took a long, long time.

Another test shot - Apple store

Wandering around the Tyson's Galeria mall in Virginia and went into the Apple store. I don't like the new iMac's from the standpoint of the stand. One of the reasons I liked the older model was the versatility of the stand, where you could move the LCD up, down, left, right for a perfect positioning.

The new iMac doesn't have this flexibility although you certainly could purchase and attach a movable arm. I also think the plastic around the frame of the new iMac makes it look somewhat, well, cheap.

The plastic of the iPod and around the older iMac's frame doesn't/didn't make the products look cheap.

Actually, I'm just blathering here to include some words to with the photo I took of the Apple store for one more test shot using the Nokia 7610, whose photos I continue to like.

Can camera phones be used to cheat?

I post lots of entries in my Camera Phone Report about how camera phones could be used for cheating. I just posted another article and took a photo with my Nokia 1.3 megapixel camera phone to check out whether the text would be clear enough to read.

As you can see, it's clear enough.

This photo dramatically highlights how the Nokia 7610 doesn't offer the capabilities to get the shot I wanted. At the end of the day the sun shining through the clouds -- in the center of the photo -- was beautiful.

But I was shooting in a car waiting for the traffic light to change, in the passenger's seat, stretching to point out the window on the driver's side. The photo certainly isn't bad for a camera phone. Indeed, I like the photo quality of the Nokia 7610.

But a higher quality lens, especially with an optical zoom, would have enabled me to capture the image I wanted.

The "Festival of the Arts" included very high quality woodworking, everything from art pieces to bowls to vases to great looking chairs.

After visiting the Snapfish store, my girlfriend and I visited the annual "Festival of the Arts" in the Old Town section of Alexandria, Va. I don't know how many tents were set up, but they stretched for blocks with two tents side-by-side.

Many so-called arts festivals offer rather low quality work. But the Old Town event featured high quality work. Lots of great photographs, sculptures, paintings, glassware, woodworking and multimedia artwork.

I was especially interested in the photography.
